Holiday Intensive Programs

The holiday intensive weeks that are run at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre can have a significant impact on a student’s development of skill. This continuous period of swimming allows students to consolidate their swimming skills, it’s like doing half a term in a week!

Lessons run for 30 minutes, with students attending every day for a four/five day period. The children have immediate opportunities to revise skills each day, and instructors can spend focus more lesson time on skills yet to be achieved or expanding the lesson by introducing new skills.

Most parents witness big changes in their child’s swimming ability and/or confidence after the third or fourth day. Holiday programs are a good way of reinforcing the skills your child has learnt during their school swimming term, and can be useful for those children who have hit a stumbling block. For example; “Tadpoles” who are frightened, timed or yet to submerge their face willingly; “Dolphins” who are mastering side breathing.

Holidays intensive weeks can also be a nice introductory week for students who have recently been promoted to the next level, and can use the holiday time to settle in to their new level.
